2004 OHCRA AND HCRA RACE RULES

F. PADDLE SPECIFICATIONS
Paddles must be single bladed and shaped of wood only. However, the paddle used for racing may have a protective or supportive (strengthening) covering which may be fiberous, kevlar, carbon, etc...

The paddle may have an edging or prosthesis for protection on the bottom or sides. The paddle may have laminated (horizontally and vertically) synthetic material (kevlar, etc.) for strength and support. Extra paddles may be carried in each canoe during a race (rev. 12-06-03)

HCRA RACE RULES (added 12-06-03)

Anyone caught with an illegal paddle shall pay a fine: 1st paddle $50.00; 2nd paddle $100.00; 3 or more paddles $200.00 each, to be paid within 30 minutes of notification. The club to which the paddler belongs shall be responsible. Intentional use of an illegal paddle shall result in a fine and disqualification of the crew. (added 12-06-03)

Your paddle has been carefully handcrafted by QuickBlade, specifically for racing in Hawaii, to the specifications of OHCRA. Your paddle is hand shaped using mahogany and basswood for the shaft with Spanish cedar ultra thin sharp edged blade for clean entry and exit.

The blade has 2 full layers of braided 2 x 2 carbon fiber over the laminated EPVC support, for extreme durability and protection

The blade also has a 3/8" edge made from epoxy and high strength fillers to protect it from occasional impact.
